  • KALE BLACK MAGIC SEEDS: An improved Italian Black Kale, bred for the UK climate. It has outstanding cold tolerance, bolt resistance and a wonderful, rich flavour.
  • SOW: March to September, HARVEST: June to March, SEEDS: 50 Approx.
  • FOR OUTDOOR SOWING: WHEN – April to June for mature plants and to September for baby leaf. WHERE - In a prepared seed bed. HOW - Sow thinly in rows 30cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-28 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks. CARE - For mature plants, when 5-6 leaves are formed, transplant to final position 45cm apart. Firm plants in well. For cut and come again baby leaves, thin to 10cm apart. Cut when approx. 7.5cm tall, they will regrow for 3-4 cuts.
  • HARVEST – June to December for baby leaf, or September to March for mature plants.
  • FOR INDOOR SOWING: WHEN – March to May (to harvest as mature plants). WHERE - In trays of moist compost. HOW - Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost and firm gently. Keep at approx. 15°C and keep moist. CARE - Acclimatise to outside conditions then transplant to final position 45cm apart. HARVEST – September to March. Pick a few leaves from each plant. Use young flower shoots as broccoli.
