  • EASY TO GROW POPULAR HERB Curly Parsley is a biennial that leafs the first year and seeds the second. Easy to grow, even in part shade, parsley can be grown in containers or borders. It is the most popular and commonly grown herb, so versatile that it can be added to many dishes during cooking or used raw as a salad garnish.
  • FRESH NUTRITIOUS LEAVES The bright green parsley leaves are rich in antioxidants and nutrients, including iron and vitamins A, C and K, and add a fresh tangy kick to salads. Or chop the leaves and scatter over cooked dishes before serving, from pastas and soups to omelettes and pizzas, to add zingy colour and flavour. Parsley is also frequently teamed with garlic and onions, as it s said to freshen the breath and cleanse the palate.
  • HOW TO PLANT Early sowings can be made into pots or trays under glass at around 15 C, lightly covering the seed with a sprinkling of compost Alternatively Sow seed thinly April to May direct outdoors, 1.5cm deep, into finely-prepared soil. Glasshouse sowings can be pricked out into individual pots or trays and grown on under glass before gradually hardening off in a cold frame and planting out after all risk of frost has past. Outdoor sowings should be gradually thinned to an eventual spacing of 25cm.
  • TOP GROWING TIPS It makes an attractive edging to veg beds and grows well in containers. Can be grown indoors in pots all year round. Place in a cool, lightly shaded spot to germinate, and make sure the compost doesn t dry out. Parsley seeds can take a month or more to germinate, so be patient.
