Product description

  • SEASONAL AVAILABILITY: Bare root plants are supplied from November through to late spring when they are dormant and easy to transplant
  • FEATURES: Hawthorn is a beautiful nature friendly plant; well known for it’s early spring “May”flowers and autumn berries or Haws. It forms the backbone of our native hedge mixes.
  • HEIGHT and SPREAD: Hawthorn is a resilient plant which typically grows 30 – 60cm (1-2ft) per year. As a tree it will happily grow to 3-4 m tall (9-12ft) but is more usually maintained as part of a hedge at anything from 1m tall
  • PLANTING TIPS: Bare root hedging is typically planted in a double staggered row which would look like a Zig Zag if viewed from above. We typically recommend 5 plants per metre.
  • PLANT CARE: We recommend that you plant with Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungus and remember to water well especially on planting and in dry and hot weather for the first 2-3 years
  • PLANT PASSPORT: All of our plants are checked for excellent health and come complete with their Plant Passport
