• VERSATILE VEGETABLE FOR BOILING, ROASTING & SALADS: From field to fork in under 3 months! For hearty root vegetables to grow in the garden, look no further than carrots. This Chantenay Red Cored variety or ‘daucus carota’ is an often-sought-after carrot thanks to its early sowing properties and satisfying crunch. With stumpy small core, this gives great texture and flavour when cooked or eaten raw. A great-tasting alternative to shop-bought produce!
• FROM FIELD TO FORK IN UNDER 3 MONTHS: Plant outdoors or indoors in troughs, containers or beds to cultivate tasty carrots, one of the earliest carrot varieties to plant in the year. This carrot seed variety can be sown from early spring to late winter. They grow fully by around 80 days where they will grow to a size of around 1.5 inches across, though harvest earlier for sweeter carrots.
• HOW TO PLANT: Soak your carrot seeds in water before you sow. Broadcast or scatter sowing works well for planting carrot seeds or spread evenly with 15cm between seeds. Cover with around 3cm of soil and mark your bed before planting. If growing in containers, sprinkle seed on the surface and lightly cover with potting mix. Plant carrots from April to July and harvest from June to November for best results. 1100 pack size.
• TOP GROWING TIPS: Plant carrots in a sunny spot with no shade, in well-drained soil that has been mixed with compost. Chantenay Red Cored are hardy carrots, so you need only water in dry spells. Avoid thinning to prevent carrot root fly. Weed between carrots when needed. Make sure to cover the leafy tops of plants like carrots with cloches before any frosty weather.
