• Variegated society garlic, a clump forming perennial 30 to 50cm tall with strap shaped green leaves streaked creamy white, for a damp border and not a pond
• Compact spread of 20 to 40cm suits a mixed border or a patio container on ground that stays damp but never stands in water, as this is not a pond plant
• Clusters of small star shaped pale lilac flowers are held above the variegated foliage from June to September for a long run of colour through the summer
• Needs full sun in moist but well drained soil, and should be kept out of standing water on ground that drains freely once the rain has passed through in an open sunny spot
• Low to medium difficulty, and the nectar rich flowers bring bees and butterflies into a mixed border or a container planting through the summer months
