• Japanese water iris, a clump forming water iris 60 to 90cm tall with sword shaped green leaves, grown in damp soil rather than standing water at the edge of a pond
• A spread of 45 to 60cm gives dense upright foliage for a pond margin, bog garden or water feature where architectural structure is wanted in consistently damp soil
• Large flat pale lilac pink flowers with a deep mauve base and subtle yellow markings open from May to July for a graceful waterside display above the green leaves
• Grows in full sun to partial shade in consistently moist soil, and this cultivar is happiest in damp ground at a pond edge rather than deep water in a moist border
• Low to medium difficulty, and the flowers give bees and butterflies nectar while adding floral and structural interest to wetland planting schemes through early summer
