  • LAVENDER FRENCH LAVENDER SEEDS A hardy shrub*, flowers the year after sowing. Compact shrub with virtually evergreen, aromatic leaves. Perfect for borders, containers and cottage gardens.
  • SOW February to June, FLOWERS June to September, SPACING 60cm, HEIGHT 60cm, SUNLIGHT Full Sun, SEEDS 35 Approx.
  • SOW INDOORS 0.5cm deep in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse or on a warm kitchen windowsill. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 21-42 days. Transplant individually when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. (Always hold seedlings by a leaf, never by the stem.)
  • Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts) before planting out 40cm apart. If plants are large enough to transplant outside in autumn, they are best protected with cloches through the winter. *French Lavender is hardy to approx. -5 in well drained soil and a sheltered position. Alternatively plant out the following spring.
  • Edible Lavender flowers can be used as a flavouring and 'crystallise ' for decoration.
