- How to Test New Pressure Sensor Replacement fill a pressure cooker with 3 cups of water and set it to high pressure for 5 minutes; If the emergency vent starts leaking or venting during the heat cycle, the pot is over pressurized; Immediately unplug and quick release; After 5 minutes, use the quick release to vent; There should be a strong pressure release; If not, the pressure cooker is not reaching enough pressure
