Product description

  • This tracing knife is exceptional. Its Japanese name, kensaki shirabiki, means "saber-tipped tracing knife". It is used to draw lines much thinner than those of a pencil.
  • Unlike the Western-style marking knife with handles, this Japanese marking knife allows the user to have great control. It has no handle so that it lies flat on a workpiece for drawing lines even in narrow spaces. It can also be used as an oblique chisel, for example to clean the base of dovetails.
  • The V-tip is used to draw assemblies on both the left and right side when transferring marks from one part to another.
  • White high carbon steel blade (HRC 63) covered with a softer layer of steel. Its composition as well as its rectified back and its wide bevels make it relatively easy to sharp.
  • Hand forged in Japan, its beautiful matte silver finish with a hammered pattern makes it a pleasure to use and a must-have in your tool chest.
