- PURIFIED PROPOLIS EXTRACT - Herstat Cold Sore Care Ointment contains 3% Purified Propolis Extract. Propolis is a natural substance created by bees to keep their hives protected from disease and bacteria. Our propolis is sustainably sourced by honey farmers in Manitoba and is purified in our own refinery in Canada where it undergoes rigorous quality checks before being used in our ointment. Propolis also gives our ointment its pleasant smell and taste and helps to soothe and moisturise the lips.
