With more and larger 18 10 stainless steel springs, it achieves a great balance between too tight to open and too loosen to grasp food. Simply hold the open tongs closed, pull the tab out to lock them closed and push the tab in to re-open for grabbing food. The pin holds two parts of the tong is tightly, no breaking issues.
