- - Lightly oil the rim of both the casserole and the lid with any cooking oil prior to first use to seal and protect raw edge. To keep your casserole in peak condition recommend you wash by hand. If there are food deposits, add warm water to the casserole and let it stand for more than 15 minutes. Note that the hot saucepan that has just been used should not be directly exposed to cold water to avoid cracking or damage to the enamel surface due to thermal shock.
