- 3M Scotch 897 Filament Tape is a medium-strength, general-purpose, clear fiberglass-reinforced tape with a synthetic rubber resin adhesive ideal for medium-duty strapping, bundling and reinforcing. Its synthetic rubber resin adhesive provides good adhesion to most surfaces, including a variety of plastics, fiberboard, carpets, natural fibers, and metals.
- Designed with an adhesive that provides good initial adhesion and holds well with minimum rub-down, Scotch Filament Tape 897 is a general purpose solution for a variety of bundling and reinforcing applications. The backing, filaments and adhesive combine to provide high tensile and shear strength compared to general purpose tapes. It allows for printing and illustrations to be seen through the tape.
- 3M Scotch 897 Filament Tape is UL recognized 969 file MH26206, abrasion and moisture resistant; maximizes package performance when exposed to outdoor and humid environments, allows printing and illustrations to be seen through the tape; and has a clear display of graphics, artwork, and other important messages, and other features.
- Carrier Backing glass yarn reinforced, polypropylene (PP) film. Adhesive synthetic rubber. Thickness 5 mils (carrier, adhesive). Adhesion 50 ounces per inch (to stainless steel test panel). Tensile Strength 170 pounds per inch (longitudinal). Elongation 4%. Core 3-inch diameter.
