The rounded housing designed allows for easy front panel operation while maintaining a professional-grade construction for use in harsh environments. Additionally, the HX890E is capable of floating and is designed to withstand submersion with its IPX8 water resistance rating, allowing the handheld to remain within 1.5m for up to 30 minutes and stay.
  • Calling Features This Horizon Standard VHF handheld is capable of digital selective calling (DSC). In H mode, this operator allows the continuous reception of DSC functions on channel 70, at the same time as the reception of radio calls on the audio channels. Group Monitor is another calling feature of the HX890E, as it uses the terminal's Digital Selective Calling (DSC) to call in groups and automatically poll the position to display locations.
  • Extended Range This HX890E marine VHF extends their range to a total transmit power of 6W. However, to maximize battery life, both 2W and 1W settings can be selected.
  • GPS Receiver The HX890E has a built-in 66-channel WAAS GPS receiver built-in. The device is capable of location logging which allows GPS location information to be recorded and logged at regular intervals.
  • Distress Alert When activated, the distress alert transmits the latitude and longitude of a vessel. This VHF handheld is capable of transmitting and receiving DSC distress messages. Additionally, the HX890E features a water-activated strobe light that will turn white upon contact with water. This feature helps locate the radio in low light conditions and works even when the radio is turned off!
