- Check if the fuse box is corroded If there is evidence of corrosion, thermal distortion, melting of the insulation, or damage to the fuse, replace the entire fuse holder. Perform a voltage drop test. The voltage drop under load should be close to 0 volts. A voltage drop of more than 0.30 volts indicates too high a resistance. In this case, replace the fuse box.
