Product description

  • Prunus Brilliant, known commonly as an 'alpine cherry', is an attractive ornamental tree with deciduous foliage and eye catching flowers. The leaves of this tree initally devlop as a shiny bronze before maturing to a dark green, this eventually becomes a fiery orange to red colour during autumn. From April until June, an abundance of bright pink white flowers begin to bloom, these beautiful flowers are very popular with pollinators such as bees.
  • This variety can be grown in almost any kind of soil condition, though it very much prefers well-drained and or moist soils, perfect for planting in chalky, loam, sandy or clay. This tree loves to be planted in an area that gets either plenty of sun or just a little bit of shade, more sun means a higher chance of the foliage sticking around through winter.
  • Once established, these trees become fairly low maintenance. Due to being deciduous, they require little or no pruning - Just clip away any uneven or extra-long branches if necessary. If planting in Spring or Summer, water well and regularly for the first few months. If planting in Autumn, little watering is required. Make sure not to over-hydrate and don't let the soil dry out during the warmer months.
  • Prunus 'Brilliant' is a fantastic ornamental specimen with sharp looking foliage and eye-catching flower blooms, it can be planted with minimal fuss and once established, requires very little maintenance, a perfect addition to a small garden or patio.
